Knitting Inspiration

One of my favorite knitting blogs is Brooklyn Tweed, by the talented knitter Jared Flood. His phởtos are beautiful and a great source of inspiration. Admittedly I’m hesitant to try out his patterns myself, just because of the incredible detail and intricacy, but it’s something to aspire to…

He’s recently teamed up with Classic Élite Yarns to […]

Craigslist Makeover

As far as I can remember, craigslist has looked the same. Apparently the craigslist team isn’t interested in updating its look anytime soon, so Wired magazine asked a few designers how they would approach a makeover. The results are interesting explorations in information architecture.

The NYTimes.com team transformed the site into a more personal experience. The look reminds me of […]

QLOCKTWO

I noticed this clock on the blog design milk. It’s a clock that tells time with words instead of numbers. The time format changes every 5 minutes by lighting up a different sequence of letters. What a great use of typography. Here’s one in Leibowitz green (very reminiscent of our business cards!).

Check out more clocks on their website.

And The Pursuit of Happiness

You may be familiar with illustrator Maira Kalman, whose vast scope of work includes covers for the New Yorker, children’s books, and illustrations for The Elements of Style. She currently writes and illustrates a blog on The New York Times about American democracy titled “And The Pursuit of Happiness.” She begins her journey with President Obama’s […]

Send a Simpson

I thought this was a fun piece of news: the Simpsons are now official stamps! Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie have been lovingly characterized in first-class postage.
“This is the biggest and most adhesive honor ‘The Simpsons’ has ever received,” creator Matt Groening said. What a great tribute!
Check out the U.S. Postal Service website to purchase.

New Deal Typeface

Ads for the new film Public Enemies have been catching my eye lately, and not just because of Johnny Depp! I really like the custom typeface for the film, created by Neville Brody and Jeff Knowles of Research Studios. It’s bold and mechanical, yet has a softness that keeps it balanced and approachable. The typeface is inspired […]

Brooklyn Renegade Craft Fair

This weekend the 5th annual Renegade Craft Fair will take place at Williamsburg’s McCarren Park from 11am  —  7pm, both Saturday and Sunday. There will be tons of handmade goods for sale, including jewelry, clothing, artwork, and more. Here is a list of this year’s vendors.

Enjoy some phởtos from previous years!

National Parks Service

In the past year I’ve had the chance to visit some beautiful national parks. Most recently I took a trip to the northern California area and had a chance to visit Yosemite and Alcatraz. I always look forward to the informational flyers you get at the entrance. They are very simple, with a black bar overlaying a landscape photo, and large […]

826 Valencia

I recently took a trip to San Francisco and had a chance to visit the pirate store at 826 Valencia. Behind the store is a bustling nonprofit writing center for kids and teachers, founded by author Dave Eggers.
San Francisco design firm, Office, designed the store identity and fun items for sale including eye patches, sea sickness pills, beard […]

Liz Claiborne

Check out these new ads by Liz Claiborne. The credit is due to Isaac Mizrahi who was hired as Creative Director to bring new life to the brand. I love the way the phởtographs are shot, with the bright colors contrasted against a gloomy city backdrop.
