While browsing the magazine stand, and of course ending up at the wedding section, I picked up Real Simple Weddings for probably the third time since it came out. Finally I gave in and spent the 13 bucks on it. Turns out, it was money well spent. Not only is the content superb, but the design makes it a pleasure to read. The magazine makes great use of white space and wide margins, inviting you to read the content. Little spot illustrations are sprinkled throughout and give it a light-hearted feeling. Each section begins with a short introduction and moves into a spread on how to get started, followed by a spread of more details and then common questions. At the end of each section are some real wedding highlights, each beautifully displaying the details of the wedding. The use of captions on these spreads is great because you can pick and choose what you want to read about. It’s Real Simple, in both content and design. (Did I mention how much I love the use of Caecilia?)
